New biography update is due
“Consummate performer” is an under
statement when referring to Silver Cat. With raw energy and cool
charisma, this artiste feeds on the vibe of the audience to deliver a
heart stopping, power packed show.
Audiences around the world including
those in Europe, Canada, the United Sates and the Caribbean have rocked to
the rhythms of this gravel voiced deejay who travelled from a small town
in rural Jamaica to make his name. Neil McDonald left his family home at
age 19 with the support of his mother for the Jamaican music capital
Kingston. Though he was a popular Clarendon based performer, Silver Cat
sought to prove to his doubtful father that he could be a successful
entertainer.
Cat headed straight for the renowned
Penthouse Studios where he voiced two unsuccessful tracks; “Oh La La La”
and “I Know”. Disenchanted, Silver Cat wanted to find a label dedicated
to his development as an artiste. He was introduced to Patrick Roberts of
Shocking Vibes Productions by a mutual friend and found the label to
catapult him onto the charts.
At Shocking Vibes, Silver Cat voiced
“Dead In Yah”, an underground hit that was not able to secure airplay due
to perceived violent references. Alternating his lyrical style from
comedian to rebel, Silver Cat voiced a series of tracks ensuring his
status as a dancehall force. “Fowl Affair”, “Deon”, “Naw Go Bow” and
“Going Back For Mi M16” each hit the charts with a bang.
Cat continues to record with prominent
producers and maintains a reservoir of lyrics for himself and other
artistes. All new material will appear on his upcoming album for Shocking
Vibes.
Despite recording and touring, Silver
Cat has stayed close to his roots. He still lives in Clarendon close to
his family. He has also, explored business interests outside of music.
Silver Cat stresses that he is both
mentally and physically prepared for the days ahead and promises that the
performances, which have become a hallmark of his stage persona will be
much in evidence.
